The comic book universe would be a much poorer place without Mysterio. This resigned version of Mysterio depicts a robed Dormammu-esque character. Mysterioâs body is swathed by a billowy arcane robe; a demonic countenance is semi-visible from within the clouded sphere of his fishbowl helmet. Mysterio is equipped with a vaporous base and backdrop. It takes true brass to turn a fog machine and a fishbowl into a supervillain costume. Parleying his special effects aplomb into a supervillain career, Mysterio facilitated his range of powers via illusions and projections and hallucinatory vapors. He racked up a long string of defeats at Spider-Manâs hands, during which time he became more and more deranged. No one seemed to appreciate Mysterioâs mawkish panache except for Mysterio himself. Ultimately Mysterio ended up causing himself terminal illnesses after long-term exposure to his various chemicals and devices---one final kick in the fishbowl to a master showman perpetually playing to an audience full of stiffs.
