This book came highly recommended, so I thought I'd give it a try. Unfortunately, there's no gentle way to say this; I want my money back. The story--despite obvious parallels to "Batman"--is OK, but the main problem here is the artwork. Frankly, most of the panels in this book look like they were doodled on a napkin then halfheartedly colored in. While the story attempts to be gritty and semi-realistic, the artwork is goofy and cartoonish--representing a huge conflict between what this story wants to do, and what it's actually doing. Again and again as I read this, I kept thinking how wonderful this would be if only more effort had been put into the drawing.

Spider-Mam Reign is definately one of those rare series that leaves an unforgettable mark in your mind and heart. Peter hasn't been Spider-Man in 35 years, but as New York is quickly becoming very similar to the novel 1984 and an old "friend" of Peter's shows up with a "gift" Peter again leaps into action as Spider-Man. The imagary in this series is truely memorable and striking at the same time. Peter's hallucinations of Mary Jane still being alive are very heart breaking especially since it's Peter's love that killed her. Much like Dark Knight Returns, Spider-Man has to deal with the demons of his past and take care of his "loose ends." This is not a series to be missed by comic and/or Spider-Man fans.

This is a dark death filled story most of the characters die in it. that's said it's also a very moving story a touching one with a simple yet somehow so fitting art work for it.
I couldnt put it down before finishing it, which I can't say about most of the comics books I read lately.

This book is a stupid try to do a Marvel "Dark Knight Returns" with Spiderman as character, the art is sometimes good and others awful, I am really disapointed with this book

Many times I have heard people compare spider-man reign to dkr ( batman dark knight). Anyways let me say that dsepite the similarities spider-man reign is truly original and shows spidey in a dark and cold realitiy where there are few happy endings for our heroe. In the storie an elderly and lonely peter parker has hung up his red and blue tights after a certain red-headed babe passes away. Things change however when JJJ drags peter out of retirement against the overbearing reign unit as well some old school spider-foes such as ( kraven mysterio scorpian doc ock sandman electro hydro-man and a new and improved venom). In conclusion if your looking for a fresh and unqiue new look at the spider-man genera then reign should keep you satisfied .
