Saturday Morning Cartoons' Greatest Hits

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - So good I bought it 5 times
I first bought this CD for my brother for xmas in '95(sort of forgot to give it to him), and since then it has been the most frequently borrowed(read stolen) cd I own. Every one has their personal favorite. I dare you not to sing along with Underdog..... you can't fight it.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Awesome bands for awesome cartoons
I have been a huge fan of many of the bands that covered these children's cartoon songs. It's primarily a joke, but a great one at that.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Big fun
I'm a little old for most of these cartoons and artists, but I'll give this cd four stars for the two cuts I can relate to. "Eep Opp Ork Ah-ah" goes back to the Jetsons' first season in the fall of 1962. The Violent Femmes' version actually works like a 1962 vision of what rock and roll would sound like in the 21th century, except nobody back then had figured out how to make an electric guitar sound like sticking your finger in a wet light bulb socket. And the guitar virtuosity of the Reverend Horton Heat's "Johnny Quest/Stop That Pigeon" medley can be appreciated by listeners of (almost) all ages.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Is actually a great kids cd
Our seven and four year old love this album and I don't mind recalling my wasted youth. The boys recognize speed racer and spiderman and have developed a new appreciation for "Gigantor!"

I recommend cranking this when you are waiting in the car outside of the Safeway!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Alternative Cartoon Craziness from bands that matter!
This album is laden with great talent, solid production and most of all fun, fun, fun! The songs are not just silly, they rock! Curious?

Like many other people I have had this album since it was released and have never gotten tired of it. This project could have so easily been soulless and stupid, but the bands featured really give it all they've got!

Here's a quick review of each track:

-The Tra-La-La Song: A high energy, alternative jam.
-Speed Racer: A high point for the album, Sponge really shreds on this song and gives it a lot of dimension with motor/guitar sounds.
-Sugar, Sugar: Very trippy, slower version of the song, with cute vocals.
-Scooby-Doo: An OK song, but not great...a little too long.
-Josie and the Pussycats: Trade off vocals and harmonies make this great.
-The Bugaloos: Hilarious to hear this somber, raspy voice singing a poppy mid-tempo rocker.
-Underdog: They really make this song their own, dirthy southern twang and falsetto background vocals create a truly unique song.
-Gigantor: Droning, fuzzed out surf rock with a great breakdown mid song.
-Spider-Man: A Classic, 'Nuff Said!
-Johnny Quest/Stop The Pigeon: Very cool, the Reverend's voice is perfect.
-...Sun Shine In: Sweet and Mellow.
-Eeep Opp Ork Ah-Ah: The Femmes work their magic, like only they can.
-Fat Albert: A funky, alternative jam.
-Popeye: The only low-point on the album, just lame and pointless.
-Friends/Sigmund: Very cool medley that maintains a laid back vibe while cranking up the energy, just makes you feel good.
-Goolie Get-Together: Great breakdown in the middle "Shout!"
-Honk Kong Phooey: The centerpiece of the album, pure Sublime style goodness, the song moves from Reggae to Punk to madness by the end!
-H.R. Pufnstuf: Very 90's folk pop-rock with amazing harmonies.
-Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy: Captures the insane spirit of Ren & Stimpy and shows it for what it was the punk rock of animation!

Just a great album, not for the kids as one reviewer mentioned. This is definitely a rock album that just happens to feature cartton theme songs.
